For those seeking the reputable image quality and fast focusing of the OM-D E-M5 but want a more affordable option, Olympus’s latest PEN shooter will offer just that.


Olympus has just announced the new PEN Lite E-PL6, the successor to the E-PL5. To my delight, instead of an incremental update, the new entry-level interchangeable lens shooter boasts the same 16 megapixel Live MOS sensor and TruePix VI sensor found on the OM-D E-M5, giving you the highly lauded image quality and fast focusing in a more affordable camera.

The E-PL6 does lack the 5-axis image stabilization used by its higher-end sibling but by no means should that be a deal breaker. Other notable features include the Touch AF shutter, which allows you to conveniently tap to focus on the 170-degree articulating display, as well as a selection of 12 Art filters for greater creative flexibility.


The PEN Lite E-PL6 will be available in black, white, silver and red from the end of July 2013. Pricing are as follows:
